Verbrauchsgegenüberstellung von pneumatischer und elektrischer Aktorik mittels eines Linearantriebes und einem pneumatischen Zylinder
Im zweiten Jahr unserer Weiterbildung zum Staatlich geprüften Techniker an der Technikerschule Bad Hersfeld bearbeiten wir eine Projektaufgabe. Diese geschieht in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Firma CALDAN aus Bad Hersfeld.
Das Projekt wird im Zeitraum vom 13.11.2023 bis 14.06.2024 durchgeführt.
Von CALDAN wurden wir zu einem Kick-Off Meeting eingeladen. Dort besprachen wir die Aufgabenstellung.
Diese lautet wie folgt: Verbrauchsgegenüberstellung von pneumatischer und elektrischer Aktorik mittels eines Linearantriebes und einem pneumatischen Zylinder.
Die Messwerte sollen über das Bussystem ASi5 auf eine HMI-Oberfläche übertragen werden. Dort sollen die Daten grafisch dargestellt und ausgegeben werden.
Folgendes wird uns von der Firma CALDAN zur Verfügung gestellt:
- IFM Durchflussmesser
- ASi5 IO Link Master Modul
- Asi5 Gateway
- Siemens AI Energy Meter Modul
- Stromwandler
- Schienensegment (mit Festo Wartungseinheit, pneumatischer und elektrischer Aktorik, IO-Link Master)

English Summary:
In our second year of training to become state-certified engineering technicians at the technical college in Bad Hersfeld, we have to complete a project task. This is done in close cooperation with the company CALDAN Service from Bad Hersfeld.
The project is to be carried out in the period from 13.11.2023 to 14.06.2024. On 15.06.2024, the elaborated project will be presented by us students in the Audimax.
On 13.11.2023, we were invited to a kick-off meeting at Caldan`s premises. There we made initial contact with the company and were introduced to the task.
Our task is to compare the consumption of pneumatic and electric actuators using a linear drive and a pneumatic cylinder. The measured values are to be transmitted via the Asi5 bus system to a Siemens HMI interface. The data is to be graphically transferred and output there.
We are provided with the following by the company Caldan:
- Test Bench
- IFM flow meter
- Asi5 Gateway
- Siemens AI Energy Meter Module
- Current transformer
- Rail segment (with Festo maintenance unit, pneumatic and electric actuators, IO-Link master)
Initially, we familiarised ourselves with Caldan`s task and thought about all the segments we would need to implement the project. We are in constant communication with Caldan and are currently receiving the required cables, current converters, IO-Link module etc. for more precise implementation. We have already thought about time management and have created a “timeline” in the GanttProject program. Now we are coming to grips with the HMI interface and switching to the Siemens controller with the hardware. We are also assembling the two rail segments and the segment (with Asi5 modules, transducer, pneumatic actuators) on the frame in such a way that it looks clear and easy to understand.
We are currently equipping the control box for the testbench with the necessary components, dealing with communication with the programming interface and drawing up a precise schedule with Caldan for our next steps.
In the future, we will have challenges with the Asi5 bus system, communication between rail segment and test bench, functionality of the IFM flow meter, Siemens AI Energy Meter module, safety programming or the HMI interface.
